The United States took a small first step on the march to Beijing on Saturday. Bulls Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The dream came true for both Derrick Rose and the Bulls on June 26. Rose was chosen by his hometown team with the top pick of the NBA Draft, while the Bulls can officially enjoy their jump from ninth to first in the draft order, thanks to some extreme lottery luck.

Rose has all the tools to become the league’s next elite point guard. He has good size (6-foot-3), impressive athleticism and has been a big winner during his career. After leading Chicago’s Simeon High School to two state championships, he carried Memphis to the NCAA title game before losing in overtime to Kansas.

“I think he’s a special type of talent,” general manager John Paxson said. “I think he has a unique strength component and speed component that a lot of point guards in this league don’t have.
